About Fiona
"My art comes from a place of overflowing love for the act of painting. It’s my hope that the joy I get doing this work shows through in the paintings I create.”

"I create fine and detailed explorations of nature. My work seeks to showcase a part of life that’s easy to miss, delicate fractal patterns that bring calmness and peace the visual landscape. There are an infinite number of tiny worlds all around us, turn over a rock and find a perfect tiny city.
My work is heavily influenced by my education in the arts as well as studying and practicing Chinese Medicine. Both have changed how I see the world, highlighting the cyclical nature of what we see and the power of observation.
As an artist, my strongest influence is a painting that used to hang in our local library when I was a child. It was a post-modern mixed-media painting with a whole punch of items (crayons, buttons, etc.) glued onto a canvas and paint applied overtop. I remember staring at this painting for long periods of time at a young age. I really enjoyed visually inspecting each item one at a time, like a collection of tiny treasures. This is how I see my work today. I feel a deep sense of love for the act of painting, and any meaning my work contains upon completion is simply the joy of seeing a collection of tiny treasures.
